Time of visit: March, 2017

Equipment
Dumbbells of up to 20kg and 3 adjustable benches.
Weight based machines including a multi-gym.
2-3 cross-trainers, treadmills and stationary bikes.

Does the hotel gym offer complementary towels? Yes.
Does the hotel gym offer complementary water? Yes.

Comments
The hotel gym is accessible via your room key 24 hours every day.
If the hotel was to invest in a barbell bench press as well as a squat rack, the gym would be close to perfect!
In many cases – maybe even all – the display on the cardio machines is only in Chinese which might be a problem if you’re on a long-term cardio mission – and doesn’t use it just for warm-up?

Based on the hotel gym, would you stay at this hotel next time you’re in the area?
It’s super likely – the gym is close to perfect – but maybe also what you’d expect from a Sheraton hotel?

Days Hotel Frontier

Hotel: Days Hotel Frontier
Address: No. 12 Haibin Road, Fushan, 264006 Yantai, Shandong, China

Time of visit: September, 2016

Equipment
The hotel gym has spinning bikes, cross trainer and treadmills – two of each. All of the, but especially, the bikes and the cross trainers seem super wobbly and somewhat worn out.
The same goes for the fancy-colored multi gym in the center of the “room”.
The only somewhat decent equipment is the dumbbells, but the range is limited.
Everything is strangely crammed together in the corner revealing little recent usage.

Does the hotel gym offer complementary towels? No.
Does the hotel gym offer complementary water? No.

Comments
The overall impression of this hotel “gym” is that it’s close to useless.
It’s simply set up at the “outside balcony” of the end of what appears to have been a regular room when the hotel first opened. The “balcony” is “sealed off” but the area is still left rather freezing.

Based on the hotel gym, would you stay at this hotel next time you’re in the area?
No, not in a million years!

It’s likely – but I’ll probably check other options first.

Maximillian

Hotel: Maximillian
Address: Beiyuan East Road, North Gujiazhuang Flyover, Chaoyang, 100012 Beijing, Beijing, China

Time of visit: February, 2017

Equipment
A handful of treadmills, three cross trainers and a stationary bike leaves plenty of options if you’re into cardio.
In terms of weight-based training, dumbbells range from 6 to 22 kg, there’s a solid range of machines including a Smith machine.

Does the hotel gym offer complementary towels? Yes.
Does the hotel gym offer complementary water? Yes.

Comments
Upon entering the hotel gym, it seem a bit strange with the big colorful carpet – it’s not something you see in many gyms. However, it wasn’t sticky or smelly.

Based on the hotel gym, would you stay at this hotel next time you’re in the area?
The gym was pretty well equipped and since the rooms aren’t too expensive, it’s very likely!1

Hilton Garden Inn

Hotel: Hilton Garden Inn
Address: A4 DLF Place, Saket District Centre, New Delhi, 110017, India

Time of visit: February, 2017

Equipment
In terms of cardio equipment, treadmills, bikes and a lonely cross-trainer does the job. However, dumbbells don’t go any higher than 20 kg and there’re no barbells, possibilities are somewhat limited.
There’s a “multi-gym” in the middle of the room, but since it’s somewhat worn out, it doesn’t really add any real value.

Does the hotel gym offer complementary towels? Yes.
Does the hotel gym offer complementary water? Yes.

Comments
There’s a 24 hour access to the gym via the room key.
There’s a really nice roof-top pool.

Based on the hotel gym, would you stay at this hotel next time you’re in the area?
Maybe – the gym was a little disappointing, I would’ve expected more from a hotel carrying the Hilton name, so I might look for other options to begin with.

Double Tree

Hotel: Double Tree
Address: 688 Juxian Road, Xiuzhou District, 314000 Jiaxing, Zhejiang, China

Time of visit: November, 2016

Equipment
Although there were no barbells available, the selection of dumbbells was quite good. There’s even a cable machine and some other weight based machines which surely allows for a proper workout.
If you’re in the mood for cardio, there’re treadmills, stationary bikes, cross trainers and stair climbers.

Does the hotel gym offer complementary towels? Yes.
Does the hotel gym offer complementary water? Yes.

Comments
Besides the hotel gym, there’s also a quite big indoor swimming pool.

Based on the hotel gym, would you stay at this hotel next time you’re in the area?
The overall impression of the gym was positive, so yes – it’s not unlikely!

Element Hotel

Hotel: Element Hotel
Address: De-Saint-Exupéry-Strasse 6, Frankfurt 60549, Germany

Time of visit: January, 2018

Equipment
Dumbbells up until 22kg and cardio machines (bike, treadmill and cross trainer).

Does the hotel gym offer complementary towels? Yes.
Does the hotel gym offer complementary water? Yes.

Comments
A rather small hotel gym with rather limited options due to a limited range of equipment. However, with a little creativity, it’s surely possible to do a proper workout – at least cardio-wise.
The radio was playing loud, talkative radio from built-in speakers in the ceiling. Since there was no remote or buttons anywhere allowing for the radio to be turned off/down it was somewhat disturbing. However, this might not be a general problem.

Based on the hotel gym, would you stay at this hotel next time you’re in the area?
Maybe!
